Here’s a quick list of some of the gear I take with me on most of my trips or just highly recommend to anyone. None of these are paid sponsors, no affiliate links, strictly recommended by my years of use and abuse in the field.
- Spot Gen3 Satellite tracker – Could save someone’s life if not your own.
- Garmin eTrex 20x – Solid GPS, runs forever on two AA batteries.
- Sawyer Squeeze Water Filter – My go-to filter for all my remote rides. Just be careful to keep it from freezing, otherwise the filter will crack rendering it useless.
- Platypus Hydration Bladders – These last forever and can really take abuse.
- Rogue Panda Custom Frame Bag – I’ve had mine since February 2018 and it’s been great.
- Revelate Designs bikepacking bags – Time test and traveler approved. I’ve yet to have anything fail.
- The Shnozzle – a pump bag that inflates my pad quickly without the huff and puff.
- King Cage – Ti Manything Cages, super light weight and rock solid.
- Clikstand – Alcohol Stove system, very stable and reliable.
- Ortlieb Panniers – These bags last forever. My latest set is going on 10 years old.
- Grand Trunk Nano7 hammock – The lightest hammock you’ll find. A little on the small side, but works great.
- Toaks Outdoors Combo cook set – super lightweight and minimal, now my go-to kit for bikepacking and touring.
- Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo Tent – including a carbon fiber pole and aluminum stakes, this set up weighs around 2lbs and fits into my bikepacking setup perfectly. Roomier than the Flycreek 2 I used in years passed.
- Bear Grylls parachord fixed blade knife – A very lightweight yet reliable knife that works for battoning wood and other utility. Not recommended for food.
- Snowpeak Ti Mugs – I’ve had the same Ti mug for 12 years. This thing is going to outlive the human race.
- Bedrock Sandals – I find them comfortable, lightweight, and very durable.
