Here’s my complete packing list of everything I took on the Oregon’s Big Country Route. It seems like a lot of gear, and it kind of is a lot, but it’s what I consider a basic pack for a long term ride into the back country. I’m always looking to make my kit lighter, so any feedback would be great!

Most of this is taken on each trip, but it will sometimes be adjusted depending on the weather, trip length, and location.

Bike: Salsa Timberjack with 27.5×3″ tires

  • Revelate Designs Egress pocket (on front roll)
  • Anker 128000 mah battery pack
  • charging cables
  • Sketchbook, paints, pens
  • GoPro 7
  • Toiletries (toothbrush, floss, soap, eyedrops)
  • Toilet paper and baby wipes

  • Packets of tuna
  • 2 jars of Nutella
  • 2 packs of instant mash potatoes
  • M&Ms
  • Sour patch watermelon (2 large bags)
  • Cliff bars
  • Other bits I don’t fully recall

  • Backpack – Osprey Talon 22
  • 4 mountain house dehydrated meals
  • Toaks Ti cook set, mug, stove, folding spork, lighter
  • Camera bits (filters, batteries, cleaner, puffer)
  • Glasses and case
  • Headphones
  • Use would vary depending on what I wanted to carry for the day
